What Happens Next?
The 8th Continent unfolds in phases. Right now, the country is in Phase 0: Immigration — citizenship is being issued, but there is no flag, government, constitution, or laws yet. Those are built by citizens, together, once the founding population is in place.
Phase 0: Immigration — ACTIVE
Passports are issued in order until all 10,000 citizenships are claimed. Citizens accumulate population, history, and a public census.
Phase 1: Identity
Citizens vote on a flag, motto, national animal, national colors, a currency name, and a capital.
Phase 2: Constitution
Citizens submit and debate constitutional articles, then vote to ratify a founding constitution. The ratified text is stored permanently and its hash recorded on the public ledger.
Phase 3: Government
Parties form, candidates campaign, and citizens hold elections. Ministries are created and the first laws are passed.
Phase 4: National Development
Citizens design cities, establish holidays, build cultural traditions, and record the country's history in a permanent archive.
When the Borders Close
When Citizen #10,000 is claimed, the founding sale ends — no more passports are issued through standard checkout. The “Become a Citizen” option disappears from the homepage, and the site announces that the constitutional convention can begin. The country moves from founding mode into government-building mode. Whether the population cap itself is ever revisited is a decision for the constituted citizens, not the Ministry.
