What is The 8th Continent?

A fictional digital country and participatory internet experiment. 10,000 people become its founding citizens. Everything else — flag, government, laws — is created afterward, by the citizens.

Is this an NFT?

No. A public ledger verifies citizenship behind the scenes, but you are not buying an NFT, a token, or a crypto asset. You are becoming a citizen of a country that does not exist yet.

Do I need a crypto wallet?

No. A citizen vault is created for you automatically when your citizenship is issued. You never need to install a wallet, buy cryptocurrency, or manage a seed phrase.

Will my citizenship increase in value?

We make no such claim. Every new citizen pays more than the citizens who came before them — that is historical context, not a promise of financial appreciation. Do not purchase a citizenship as an investment.

Can I sell or transfer my passport?

No. Passports are non-transferable by default. Citizenship is personal, not speculative — one person, one passport, one citizen number, one vote.

What happens when all 10,000 citizenships are issued?

The founding sale closes. The “Become a Citizen” option disappears, and the country transitions into government-building mode. Whether the population cap itself is ever revisited is a decision for the constituted citizens, not the Ministry. See what happens next.

Is this a legal nationality or travel document?

No. Citizenship has no legal status. Passports are not government identification and cannot be used for travel or to claim diplomatic rights.
